Features of Basic users

A1

Can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type. 

Can introduce themselves and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where someone lives, people they know and things they have. Can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.

구체적인 욕구 충족을 지향하는 익숙한 일상적 표현들과 아주 간단한 문장들을 이해하고 사용할 수 있다.

자신과 다른 사람을 소개할 수 있으며, 다른 사람들에게 신상에 관하여(예를 들어 어디에 사는지, 어떤 사람을 알고 있는지, 어떤 물건을 가지고 있는지) 묻고 이런 종류의 질문에 답할 수 있다. 대화상대자가 천천히 분명하게 말하고 도와 줄 준비가 되어 있으면 간단한 방식으로 의사소통을 할 수 있다.

 

Overall oral comprehension

Pre A1

Can understand short, very simple questions and statements, provided they are delivered slowly and clearly and accompanied by visuals or manual gestures to support understanding and repeated if necessary.

Can recognise everyday, familiar words/signs, provided they are delivered clearly and slowly in a clearly defined, familiar everyday context.

Can recognise numbers, prices, dates and days of the week, provided they are delivered slowly and clearly in a defined, familiar everyday context.

A1

Can follow language which is very slow and carefully articulated, with long pauses for them to assimilate meaning.

Can recognise concrete information (e.g. places and times) on familiar topics encountered in everyday life, provided it is delivered slowly and clearly.

 

Overall reading comprehension

Pre A1

Can recognise familiar words/signs accompanied by pictures, such as a fast-food restaurant menu illustrated with photos or a picture book using familiar vocabulary.

A1

Can understand very short, simple texts a single phrase at a time, picking up familiar names, words and basic phrases and rereading as required.

 

Overall oral production

Pre A1

Can produce short phrases about themselves, giving basic personal information (e.g. name, address, family, nationality).

A1

Can produce simple, mainly isolated phrases about people and places.

 

Overall written production

Pre A1

Can give basic personal information (e.g. name, address, nationality), perhaps with the use of a dictionary.

Can give information about matters of personal relevance (e.g. likes and dislikes, family, pets) using simple words/signs and basic expressions.

Can produce simple isolated phrases and sentences.

 

Overall oral interaction

Pre A1

Can ask and answer questions about themselves and daily routines, using short, formulaic expressions and relying on gestures to reinforce the information.

Can interact in a simple way but communication is totally dependent on repetition at a slower rate, rephrasing and repair. Can ask and answer simple questions, initiate and respond to simple statements in areas of immediate need or on very familiar topics.

 

Overall mediation

A1

Can use simple words/signs and non-verbal signals to show interest in an idea. Can convey simple, predictable information of immediate interest given in short, simple signs and notices, posters and programmes.

Oral comprehension

I can recognise familiar words and very basic phrases concerning myself, my family and immediate concrete surroundings when people speak/sign slowly and clearly.

 

Reading comprehension

I can understand familiar names, words/signs and very simple sentence, for example on notices and posters or in catalogues.

 

Oral production

I can use simple phrases and sentences to describe where I live and people I know.

 

Written production

I can produce simple isolated phrases and sentences.

 

Oral Interaction

I can interact in a simple way provided the other person is prepared to repeat or rephrase things at a slower rate and help me formulate what I am trying to express.

I can ask and answer simple questions in areas of immeidate need or on very familiar topics.

 

Written and online interaction

I can post a short, simple greetings as statements about what I did and how I liked it, and can respond to comments in a very simple way.

I can react simply to other posts, images and media.

I can complete a very simple purchase, filling in forms with personal details.
